Voting continues at Texas Union, UTPD investigates fire alarm incidents

The UT Police Department asked for community assistance in a social media post to identify a person of interest after a fire alarm was pulled twice in the Texas Union on Tuesday.

The Union is a popular campus voting location, and voting was delayed by 10 minutes while the building was evacuated. Operations have returned to normal, and voting will continue until 7 p.m.

UTPD posted a photograph of the person of interest and does not believe the person is affiliated with the University. The department is asking anyone with information regarding the identity of the “possible suspect” to contact the department’s email or tip line number, 512-471-4441, Ext. 9. UTPD said it is investigating the incident as a criminal offense.
