Two people were arrested in connection with several package thefts in Irvine, police said Monday.
More than $2,500 worth of items were stolen from an apartment mailroom on Miramonte last Wednesday, according to the Irvine Police Department. A photo the IPD shared on social media shows at least some items taken were clothing.
After police identified the suspects, officers served a search warrant at their Irvine apartment, where they found the stolen items hidden inside a mattress.
Anastasia Vertkova, 37, and Evgeni Vertkov, 62, were taken into custody on suspicion of grand theft, the police department said.
Police say the stolen items were later returned to the victim.
