The Ravens’ star quarterback just came back from an ankle injury, but his return lasted just one play before he injured his right thumb. The injury will require surgery, sidelining Jackson for at least four games, while backup quarterback Tyler Huntley also suffered a toe injury, leaving rookie Joe Fagnano to step in during Baltimore’s third consecutive loss.
| REACTION: Can Baltimore overcome Lamar Jackson’s injury?
“The injuries are just like the cherry on top of a crappy Sunday,” said Sam Henig, owner of Clipper City Barber Co. in Fells Point, who was celebrating his birthday during the game. “I mean, it was kind of just a slow-moving game, and then it just never got better.”
Daniel Fitzgerald, a Ravens fan, shared his perspective on the team’s struggles.
“I just think there are a lot of injuries, and there’s not much we can do about it,” Fitzgerald said. “I don’t have any Ravens players on my fantasy team right now, so I feel good about that.”
Ravens gear remains on display at Brightside Boutique despite the tough loss.
“My Halloween costume, I was a Ravens fan. All I had was my Ravens jersey on and tears,” said Kerri Frank. When asked about the team’s future, she added: “Not the Super Bowl.”
For Allison Boyd, a bartender at Max’s Taphouse, a winning team means a packed bar and happier customers.
“We make a lot more money, that’s for sure. It’s busy; people don’t leave at halftime,” she said.
Boyd found a silver lining in the team’s struggles, saying: “I bought tickets last night because I’m like, ‘Oh, they’re only $50.'”
Henig expressed hope for the team’s energy moving forward.
“Honestly, I’m just hoping for some energy. Even if we’re not winning any games, like, don’t lose that hope because we’ve still got to do something. What’s the future going to look like if we give up?”
The Ravens have nine games left to improve their record and fight for a playoff position, and fans are looking for a spark to reignite their team’s season.
