CPW issues warning after driver goes around CDOT blockage, almost drives over bridge impacted by flooding

PIEDRA RIVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is issuing a warning after a driver tried to drive on a bridge that no longer exists after flooding in the region.

CPW's southwest region posted a video of them waving down a car that had gone through a Colorado Department of Transportation roadblock. The block was to stop drivers from trying to drive down US 160 over the Piedra River.

CPW has posted several videos and photos on their social media over the past few days near and on the Piedra River and Navajo State Park. According to officials, the agency had to close several offices and properties because of the ongoing flooding in southwest parts of the state.

CPW's recent posts include photos and videos of cars and houses on the Piedra River floating and upside down.

They also posted photos of the watchable wildlife bridge on the Piedra River, saying it was going to be "out of order for awhile," as part of it had seemingly collapsed.
